Sports Leagues & Camps
Organized Sports Programs Provide Positive Experiences for Youth
Boys & Girls Club of Collier County sports programs allow youth to participate in organized leagues, camps and clinics under the direction of professional coaches at no cost. Not only is it great for team building, sports programming is often the first Club experience for many kids who will then go on to participate in educational, arts and career development programming as well.
Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation Camp
Every summer, a group of Club youth travel to Aberdeen, Maryland, for a magical week that creates a lifetime of memories. The capstone of the Badges for Baseball program, Ripken Summer Camps are all-expense paid, weeklong getaways where kids interact with their peers from around the country and learn valuable life lessons from trained coaches.
Through the generosity of donors, program partners send deserving participants of the Club’s year-round youth development program to camp as an incentive.
Enriching team building activities include swimming, rock climbing, zip-lining, and more. Most importantly, Ripken campers learn important fundamental lessons like teamwork, personal responsibility, and communication that they can use both on and off the field.
Girls on the run
The Girls on the Run program inspires girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead small teams through a research-based curriculum which includes dynamic discussions, activities and running games. During the ten-week program, girls in 3rd-8th grade develop essential skills to help them navigate their worlds and establish a lifetime appreciation for health and fitness. The program culminates with girls positively impacting their communities through a service project and being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5K event.
Games room
The Games Room provides Club members the opportunity to socialize with their peers while playing pool, ping pong, board games, foosball, air hockey, and much more. These interactions help improve motor skills, teach structure through rules and regulations, and foster good sportsmanship and fair play.
Triple Play
Helping Kids Create Healthy Habits
A proven health and wellness program, Triple Play promotes the importance of physical activity and proper nutrition through three components: mind, body and soul. Healthy Habits (Mind): In addition to nutrition education, activities focus on helping youth assess, practice, identify, consider, and recognize health behaviors and messages. Daily Challenges (Body):
- Ability – increasing competence in movement skills and overall fitness
- Confidence – the ability to play sports or enjoy other physical activities
- Motivation- enthusiasm for physical activity
Social Recreation (Soul): Emphasis on social and emotional development that youth need to be healthy and productive. There is a focus on emotional regulation, healthy relationships, and responsible decision-making.
