Since the very beginning, Character and Leadership programming has been a primary focus for Boys & Girls Club of Collier County. Through these programs, members are encouraged to take personal responsibility for their actions and are given leadership roles within the Club. They are also introduced to community service – a critical element of this programming.

Character and Leadership programs are available to members of all ages and take a variety of forms from gender-specific programming to interest-based clubs.

Mr. & Ms. Manners

Through this innovative program for Club members ages 6 to 11, youth learn to develop positive self-image, sustain meaningful relationships, and make positive choices. Through class discussions and activities focusing on topics like positive conflict resolution, etiquette and self-worth, young Club members learn to apply manners to their daily lives.

Torch Club

This program helps meet the character development needs of adolescents ages 9-13. Torch Club members elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to the Club and community; education; health and fitness; and social recreation. Projects may include neighborhood cleanups, raising money and organizing food drives.

Keystone Club

This unique leadership development experience provides opportunities for young people ages 14 to 18. Youth participate, both in and out of the Club, in activities in three focus areas: academic success, career preparation and community service. With the guidance of an adult advisor, Keystone Clubs aim to have a positive impact on members, the Club and community.

Youth of the Year

Honoring & Celebrating Collier County’s Most Inspiring Teens

For years, the Youth of the Year program has honored and celebrated the Club’s most inspiring teens and their incredible journeys. Stories of outstanding leadership, service, academic excellence and overcoming obstacles have made Youth of the Year the premier leadership and recognition program for Collier County teens. These amazing young people represent the voice and spirit of hope for our community. Inspiring all kids to lead. To succeed. To inspire.

Each year at our Youth of the Year Celebration, one exceptional Club member is selected to be Boys & Girls Club of Collier County’s Youth of the Year winner based on scholastic achievement, community service, leadership ability, and consideration of any physical, social or emotional obstacles that were overcome. The Youth of the Year winner is a role model, leader and advocate for the 3,000+ youth served by Boys & Girls Club of Collier County each year, and to all of our community.
