My name is Michael. I started going to my Boys & Girls Club when I was in the second grade, and now at 16 years old, I am a senior in high school. Yes, I am graduating early! Boys & Girls Club of Collier County provides a safe place for me to learn and grow, and gives my mom a peace of mind, as she is the sole provider for our family & works full time.
“I want everyone to know that the Boys & Girls Club is a great place for kids & it will give them a better chance at being successful in life.”Michael Elant
Throughout my time at the Boys & Girls Club of Collier County, I have been able to participate in many different programs and clubs that have helped me to explore my interests, while exposing me to new possibilities. Clubs such as Keystone Club, ACTSO, learning about architecture, which is my dream job, in our Computer-Aided Design Lab, and Youth of the Year have helped me sharpen my writing and speaking skills, and given me more confidence. I look forward to putting all of the things I have learned to the test as I prepare for graduation this spring and begin interviewing for college architecture programs.
The Boys & Girls Club of Collier County has opened up so many doors leading me to a bright future. I have been given the opportunity to be mentored by local architects, encouragement in my academic endeavors, and a group of staff who sees me for my full potential and pushes me to be better.
